On 20 October 2022, the ceremonial opening of the Academic Year 2022/2023 took place at DSW University of Lower Silesia in Wrocław, combined with the celebration of the University's four hundredth anniversary. Its contribution to the development of the academic map of Wrocław and Lower Silesia was acknowledged with a congratulatory letter from the Mayor of Wrocław, Jacek Sutryk, who, among other things, highlighted the DSW University's long-standing high position in the national ranking of non-public higher education institutions Perspektywy.

 

In his opening speech, Rector Sławomir Krzychała, a professor at the DSW University, pointed out the good results of this year's scientific evaluation, which DSW University of Lower Silesia won. The University achieved the highest category A in Pedagogy and Social Communication and Media Studies. This confirms the high academic standing of DSW University among public and non-public universities in Poland.

 

Present at the event on behalf of the city were Dr Jacek Ossowski, Secretary of the Council for Higher Education and Science at the President of Wrocław, and Monika Sochacka, Deputy Director of the Office for Cooperation with Higher Education Institutions, representing the Wrocław Academic Centre. 

 

During the ceremony, prizes were awarded to DSW University students and graduates for their academic and creative achievements, participation in competitions and social commitment. The inaugural lecture by Dr Andrzej Brzeziński, professor at DSW University, dealt with economic education with regard to the organisational challenges of companies in turbulent times and referred to the newly opened Management degree programme. The event concluded with an excerpt from a performance by the Aula Academic Theatre, which has been active at the DSW University for almost 10 years.

 

DSWUniversity of Lower SIlesia was founded in 1997 and by 2022 has more than 7,000 students and listeners in 27 fields of study at bachelor's, master's, doctoral and postgraduate levels. The University is a member of the Research Federation of WSB & DSW Universities, the first one of that kind established in Poland.
