Why Buddy?
While new situations can be difficult for new Polish students, it is sometimes a real challenge for international students. Why not help each other out and learn from each other?
What is the Buddy Program all about?
The Buddy Program meets new international students with studnets of ULS, whom become a "buddy" for one or more international students. The goal of the Buddy Program is to give international students a good start to their studies and to contribute to cultural and linguistic exchange at the university.
The Buddy's role is :
- to help the newcomer with various administrative matters at the home faculty and to provide information on multiple issues related to their arrival and stay at the University
- to introduces the newcomer to student life, drawing from his/her own experiences as a student.
- can also help to integrate the incoming students with the University community and show the beauty of Wrocław and the region.
● Any student of the University of Lower Silesia DSW can become a buddy.
● Everyone who speaks foreign languages at is welcome!
● Participation in the Program is voluntary and based on individual capabilities.
If you become a Buddy, you should be on hand to greet your international student/s when they arrive. Usually, international students arrive during the following periods:
- Winter semester: beginning of October >>>Introducing day on Orientation Day for Erasmus students on 30.09.2024
- Summer semester: beginning of March >>>Introducing day on Orientation Day for Erasmus students on 19.02.2025
Why become a buddy?
- you get to meet students from all over the world and experience our international flair first-hand
- you can practice your foreign language skills
- you meet students from our partner universities in Europe
- you help international students feel welcome in ULS
- you also might receive form us a supervision and support whenever you need it
What can we do together?
- pick up your international buddy from the train station, when he/she arrives
- a tour of the city: Where do you find the most important things in Wrocław ?
- first orientation around the university: Where do you find important places like the library, cafeteria, S47 bulilding.
- general help with getting settled in Wrocław: know where to go out, meet the local buddy’s friends, find out where to go shopping, where to get a SIM card, where to buy an affordable bike or find a doctor
● To make it pleasant and easier a university gives you both a package of vouchers to spend it during your hang outs.
How and when you apply to a Program?
- contact : welcome@dsw.edu.pl with an e-mail title : ”Buddy Program-I want to join ”
- contact us two moths before new semesters start
